Our commitment

Online learning supports the course but does not replace practical teaching and assessment where hands-on competence is required.

Course design

We identify which outcomes may be learned online and which require live explanation, supervised practice or practical assessment.

The complete course must cover the same required outcomes as the equivalent face-to-face course.

Learner information

Before enrolment, learners are told:

  • what is completed online;
  • what must be attended live;
  • the equipment and technology needed;
  • the expected completion time;
  • how to obtain help;
  • that all required parts must be completed before certification.

Identity and completion

We use proportionate checks to confirm that the enrolled learner completed the required online work.

Online progress or quiz completion alone is not treated as proof of practical competence.

Learning quality

Online content must be clear, current, accessible and suitable for the intended learners.

Knowledge checks give useful feedback and allow learners to revisit important material.

We review completion data, learner feedback and common errors to improve the course.

Support and accessibility

Learners can contact us for technical or learning support.

We consider reasonable adjustments and offer an alternative approach where an online format creates an avoidable barrier.

Practical session and assessment

Required practical skills are taught, practised and assessed live by a competent trainer or assessor.

The practical session allows enough time for questions, correction and individual assessment.

Platform and data

The platform must be reliable enough for the course and protect learner information appropriately.

We have a reasonable plan for service failure, lost progress or a learner being unable to access the system.

Records

We keep a clear record of online completion, live attendance, practical assessment and certificate issue.

Review

We review this policy and the blended course design at least once a year and when standards, content or the platform changes.
